Mosaki-Godacze – 17 May [1890]

A child by the name of Mathias, one year old, died, son of the Nobles Paweł and Elżbieta Chotkowski, and was buried. 2.

Maciej Chodkowski was my first cousin 5X removed. The notation “2.” at the end of the record indicates that the family paid 2 złoty for the burial.

The record states that the child was 1 year old when he died, but I could not find a birth and baptismal record for this child. In fact, this was the second son that Paweł Chodkowski and Elżbieta Ostrowska named Maciej. The first was born on about 27 February 1788 and died three months later on 04 June 1788. The child named in the present death and burial record was born in about 1799, at which time the parents reused the name Maciej.

A child by the name of Mathias, 13 months [weeks?] old, died, son of the Nobles Paweł and Elżbieta Chotkowski, and was buried in the cemetery. 1 złoty and 15 groszy

Maciej Chodkowski was my first cousin 5X removed. The notation “1. 15.” at the end of the record indicates that the family paid 1 złoty and 15 groszy for the burial.

The record states that the child was 13 months old when he died. In actuality, Maciej was born on about 24 February 1788, and so was 13 weeks old when he died, not 13 months. I can only guess that the priest mistakenly wrote months instead of weeks in the record.

I, Piotr Offemberg, Canon Regular of the Laterans and preacher of Krasne, baptized a female child with three [two] names: Katarzyna [one word?] and Agnieszka, daughter of the legally married couple, the Nobles Paweł and Elżbieta Chotkowski. The Godparents in the Sacred Font were the Nobles Wojciech Chotkowski and Anna Ostrowska.

Katarzyna Chodkowska was my first cousin 5X removed. The original record states that she had two names, but there appears to be a correction to indicate that she was given three names: the first was Katarzyna, the second is illegible, and the third is Agnieszka. Thanks to my cousin Christa who pointed out to me that the Latin word filia in the record is singular. I was uncertain whether this record was for multiple names or multiple births, but the singular form of the Latin word for daughter is proof that there was only a single child with three names.

The Godparents in the Sacred Font were the Nobles Marianna Chodkowska and Maciej Murawski.

Zuzanna Chodkowska was my first cousin 5X removed.
