This happened in the village of Płoniawy on the eighth / twentieth day of April in the year one-thousand eight-hundred forty-two at the hour of three in the afternoon. There appeared Melchior Chodkowski, grandfather of the deceased, seventy years of age, and Leon Chodkowski, sixty-six years of age, owners of parts [of the village] and residing in Chodkowo kuchny, and he declared that on the sixth / eighteenth day of the same month and year at the hour of nine in the evening, Aleksander Chodkowski, five years old, died in Chodkowo kuchny, son of the deceased Stefan Chodkowski and his wife, the living Anna née Roman, owners of a part [of the village] and residing with her mother in Chodkowo kuchny. After visual confirmation of the death of Aleksander Chodkowski, this document was read aloud to the declarants who do not know how to write and signed by Us.

Aleksander Ignacy Chodkowski was my 5th cousin 3X removed.

With the death of Aleksander Ignacy Chodkowski, the line that descends from Melchior Chodkowski daughtered out.  Melchior Chodkowski had three brothers, Mikołaj, Jacek, and Tomasz, only one of whom (Tomasz) is known to have left a line of male descendants that extends to the present day.

This happened in the village o Płoniawy on the twenty-fifth day of November / the seventh day of December in the year one-thousand eight-hundred thirty-five at the hour of two in the afternoon. Józef Jan Adam Chodkowski was my 5th cousin 3X removed.

There appears to be an error in the age of Leon Chodkowski in this record. In the birth and baptismal records of Stefan Chodkowski’s children, he is listed as 60 years old in 1835, 62 years old in 1836, and 66 years old in 1839. With three records supporting the assumption that Leon was born in about 1773-1775, it is likely that his actual age at the time of this child’s death was 61, not 71. It is not clear to me who this Leon Chodkowski was, other than the fact that he was an owner of a part of Chodkowo kuchny. In any case, he was important enough to Stefan Chodkowski to be the Godfather for all three of Stefan’s children and to be a declarant at the death of Stefan’s first-born child.

In addition, this record states that Józef Jan Adam Chodkowski was one month old at the time of his death. According to this birth and baptismal record, Józef Jan Adam Chodkowski was actually only 12 days old at the time of death.

There appeared the well-born Stefan Chodkowski, owner of a part [of the village], residing in Chodkowo kuchny, twenty-seven years of age, accompanied by Leon Chodkowski, age sixty-six, together with Michał Gutowski, age twenty-five, both owners of parts [of the village] residing in Chodkowo kuchny, and he showed us a child of the female sex born in Chodkowo kuchny on the eighth/twentieth day of the same month and year at the hour of six in the morning, of his wife Anna née Roman, twenty-two years of age. At Holy Baptism performed on this day this child was given the names Zuzanna Zofia, and her Godparents were Tomasz Niesłosemski and Kunegunda Chodkowska. This document was read aloud to the declarants and witnesses and signed by the declarants; the witnesses do not know how to write.
