This happened in the village of Krasne on the fourteenth / twenty-sixth day of March in the year one-thousand eight-hundred fifty-six at the hour of three in the afternoon. There appeared Aleksander Chodkowski, owner [of a part of the village] residing in [Mosaki]-Rukle, thirty-five years of age, in the presence of Wojciech Niedziałkowski, twenty-nine years of age, and Józef Milewski, fifty-six years of age, owners of parts [of the village] residing in [Mosaki]-Rukle, and he showed Us a child of the female sex born in [Mosaki]-Rukle today at the hour of four in the morning of his wife Katarzyna née Mossakowska, forty years of age. To this child at Holy Baptism performed on this day was given the name Konstancja, and her Godparents were Wincenty Obidziński and Konstancja Chodkowska in [Mosaki]-Rukle. This document was read aloud to the declarant and witnesses of whom none are able to write, and was signed by Us.

There appeared Aleksander Chodkowski, father of the deceased child, forty-six  years of age, and Wojciech Niedziałkowski, thirty years of age, both owners of a part [of the village] and residing in the village of [Mosaki]-Rukle, and they stated that yesterday at the hour of six in the morning, Rozalia Chodkowska, a three-year-old child died, born and residing in [Mosaki]-Rukle with her parents, daughter of the married couple Aleksander Chodkowski and Katarzyna Mossakowska. After visual confirmation of the death of Rozalia Chodkowska, this document was read to the declarants who have stated that they do not know how to write, and was signed by Us.

The priest underlined the hour that the birth was reported and then made a note at the bottom of the record . I could not read the beginning and end of this note, but the middle word was “underline”. Whatever the note says, it apparently explains why the hour the birth was reported is underlined in the record .
