The sponsor was:

Philipp Schí¤fer, legitimate little son of the local miller, Balthasar Schí¤fer but, because he has not yet been confirmed, the father stood in as baptismal witness. The sponsor and his father signed the present document next to the father of the child being baptized and me, the second minister of Kirtorf, who performed the baptism.

At about six o’clock in the evening of the eighth of March, in the year of the Lord eighteen-hundred fifty-six, Heinrich Andreas Lather, citizen and cow herder here in Kirtorf, fifty-one years five months and twenty-two days old [born on the 16th of September 1804.], died and was buried in the earth according to Christian custom at two o’clock in the afternoon on the tenth of the same month, in the presence of the local citizens
