Ezechiel ChodkowskiÂ was my 5th cousin, 3x removed.

We delare that, in the presence of the witnesses Piotr Selski, residing in Nalęcze, thirty years old, and Dominik Borkowski, residing in Mchowo, twenty-five years old, on this day a religious marital union was contracted between Ezechiel Chodkowski, widower of the late Rozalia née Borowska (who died in Suwin, Węgra parish), residing in Suwin, born in Załogi, Płoniawy parish, son of the married couple Piotr Chodkowski and Jadwiga née Suwińska, thirty-six years old, and Rozalia Pelagia (two first names) née Ropelewska, daughter of the married couple Paweł Ropelewski a farmer in Kobylaki Czarzaste and his wife Marianna née Bagieńska, residing in Kobylaki Czarzaste, eighteen years old and residing with her parents. This marriage was preceded by three readings of the banns on the tenth, seventeenth, and twenty-fourth of February of the current year in the parishes in Przasnysz and Węgra, and also, verbal permission was given by the bride’s father who was present for the drawing up of the marriage record. No impediments to the marriage arose. The newlyweds stated that a marriage contract was concluded by Teofil Selski, notary of the Przasnysz Uyezd. This religious ceremony of marriage was performed by us, the pastor, who has signed below. This document was read aloud to the newlyweds, the witnesses, and the father of the bride, and was signed by us and the father of the bride. The newlyweds and the witnesses are illiterate.

Stanisław Morawski’s death certificate originally stated that he was born on 15 September 1882 and was corrected to read 15 September 1877. His birth and baptismal record, however, states that he was born on 25 September 1876. Stanisław married my 6th cousin, 2x removed, Helena Chodkowska.

It took me a while to figure out where the bride and her parents were living at the time of this marriage. The record states that they were living inÂ Brzęczki in the parish of Węgra, but I couldn’t find a place with that name on any map or in any gazetteer. Then, I found a place called Smoleń-Brzęczki onÂ http://mapa.szukacz.pl/ and it was clear that this was the correct village. This village also appears in the Słownik Geograficzny Królestwa Polskiego, but, curiously enough, it does not appear on Google maps.

Sabina Niedziałkowska was my grand aunt. This marriage was also noted on the church copy of the Birth and Baptismal Record of Sabina Niedziłkowska – 1899. Not only did Sabina’s birth and baptismal record have a note in the margin, so does her marriage record. The information in the marginal notation in the marriage record will be discussed tomorrow.

She was baptized on 15 October 1899 in the Roman Catholic Church in Szwelice, Maków Powiat, Łomża Gubernia, Congress Kingdom of Poland.
