Bap[tism] of í‰lisabeth Gamache -21-
In the year one-thousand seven-hundred nineteen on the 16th of March was baptized by me the undersigned priest, í‰lisabeth, age two days, daughter of Nicolas Gamache and Marie Guyon his wife. The Godfather was Pierre Gamache and the Godmother was Marie Madeleine Belanger. The Godfather stated that he does not know how to sign .   [signed]LeClair, priest
[signed] Marie Madeleine Belanger
In this record, the mother’s maiden name is written as Marie Guyon, but the mother was better known as Marie Dion. In 1634, Jean Guyon (Marie Dion’s grandfather) settled in Beauport and received a rear fief near rivií¨re du Buisson (river of bushes). Jean Guyon attached the name du Buisson to his own name and became known as Jean Guyon du Buisson. Some of Jean Guyon du Buisson’s descendants changed their surname to Dion.
