Let me guess: in the last photo, you are the boy in the center of the group (although I can’t quite make out what kind of costume you’re wearing).
These photos bring back memories of my own days of childhood school parties, Hallowe’en and Valentine’s Day, especially.
Well, Miriam, you found me! I’m wearing a devil’s costume. It would be more obvious if you saw the mask. I’m not in any of the other pictures because I was the photographer.
Hehehe
Steve, these are precious. Once a devil, always a devil 😀
Janice
Hi… I believe I am in (at least one of) these photos; I was in Sr. Nicholas’ 2-C class in the “glass house” and actually remember this. I have been staring at the photos trying to remember (relatively successfully) my/our classmates. Very funny!!
Hi Patricia,
It’s nice to hear from you after all these years!Â
I’m glad I took these photos in second grade. Except for the annual class photos, these are the only pictures I have from VI grade school. I remember the name of some of our classmates, but I’m still stumped on the rest. Write to me and let me know who’s who!
Steve
Stephen, I’ve shared this with Meg Lasch also. Here’s my best shot at who’s who:
1) Hallway shot. I think the clown is Debbie Flynn I think that only because I think I remember it that way. I am thinking that the very tall girl is Carolyn Dwyer, only because she was very tall (always). Lisa Evers is Raggetty Anne, and next to her, the girl with the pig-tails is Maureen Hartigan.
2) Boys picture. Center row, first from the left is John Gaffney, you can match the costumes from the unmasked shot of the boys to identify the others (see below).
3) Girls picture. Bottom row, first from left is Sally Dillon (FB player), Peggy or Cathy Nolan (leopard), Monica Carr, Peggy or Cathy Nolan (leopard). Middle row from the left, Debbie Flynn, third from left is Lisa Evers, second from the right is me. Top row, first from left is Maureen Hartigan, to Sr. N’s left Carolyn Dwyer (?), third from the right is Meg Lasch.
4) Boys unmasked, last picture. Front, left is Danny/Jimmy Drislane. Back row, John Crisione, Jerry Doyle, fourth from left is Stephen Danko.
Maybe Meg’s memory is better than mine and she can place the others. This was great fun, thanks!
Steve,
I really enjoyed reading this. It has to be John Gaffney who was the top of the reading list.
I think I am Raggedy Ann, rather than Lisa Evers in the Halloween picture. It is too bad there is not a picture of the girls unmasked.
Jean
On second thought, I think I am in the back row next to Carolyn Dwyer and that I was Aunt Jemima. I would have been one of the taller girls in the class.
I was looking up the history of the Vincentian Institute (I was a student in the High School) and stumbled across the pictures of the second grade class!! The Sister of Mercy pictured is my Aunt!!! How awesome it was to see these of her,,,, I never thought VI would close and now I understand the old St. Patrick’s Church is next…..
Thanks for the memories
Hello Steve,
I just happended to be thinking about VI and stumbled on your blog. In the “hallway” picture, that’s me on the far left wearing the mask on top of my head and some sort of raincoat it looks like ! Not much of a costume. The other names bring me back – John Gaffney, the Drislanes and the Nolans (lots of twins), and Lisa Evers. I sat next to her and Thurman Avery during 4th grade. I also have a vivid memory of the day Kennedy was shot, now 50 years ago, when we were in 3rd grade in the barn.
