Jan Gołaś, son of Tomasz Gołaś and Franciszka Duda, was born on 17 May 1854 in Kąty, Kolno Powiat, Łomża Gubernia, Congress Kingdom of Poland. He was baptized on 18 May 1854 in the parish church in Mały Płock, Kolno Powiat, Łomża Gubernia, Congress Kingdom of Poland.

This happened in the village of Mały Płock on the sixth / eighteenth day of May in the year one-thousand eight-hundred fifty-four at the hour of three in the afternoon. There appeared Tomasz Gołaś, a peasant farmer residing in Kąty, forty years of age, in the presence of Franciszek Olender, thirty years of age, together with Jakób Siwik, forty-five years of age, both farms from Kąty, and he showed Us a child of the male sex born in Kąty yesterday at the hour of seven in the morning of his wife Franciszka née Duda, thirty years of age. To this child at Holy Baptism performed on this day was given the name Jan, and his Godparents were Franciszek Olender and Ewa Gutowska. This document was read aloud to the declarant father and the witnesses who do not know how to write.
