{"id":994,"date":"2007-01-23T23:00:26","date_gmt":"2007-01-24T06:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2007\/01\/23\/the-birth-of-leon-izbicki\/"},"modified":"2016-10-16T18:16:53","modified_gmt":"2016-10-17T01:16:53","slug":"the-birth-of-leon-izbicki","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/994","title":{"rendered":"The Birth of Leon Izbicki"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After posting information on Bernard Izbicki, the second husband of my cousin Anastasia Rita Meleski, I received a message from Tadeusz Izbicki, a distant cousin of Bernard .\u00a0 Tadeusz lives in Poland and the common ancestor of Bernard and Tadeusz is Bartlomiej Izbicki, Bernard&#8217;s great-great-grandfather.<\/p>\n<p>Bernard&#8217;s parents, Boles\u0142aw Izbicki and Wiktoria Kruczy\u0144ska, had several other children in Worcester, Massachusetts, including Leon Izbicki .\u00a0 Leon&#8217;s birth is recorded on line 1755 of page 490 in volume 544 of the 1904 birth register for Worcester.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a class=\"imagelink\" title=\"Birth Record for Leon Izbicki\" href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/01\/VRB-Izbicki-Leon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"image992\" style=\"width: 459px; height: 410px;\" src=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/01\/VRB-Izbicki-Leon.jpg\" alt=\"Birth Record for Leon Izbicki\" width=\"459\" height=\"410\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>The Birth Record for Leon Izbicki<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><em>SOURCE:\u00a0 The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Boles\u0142aw Jzbicki, a laborer born in Poland<\/li>\n<li>Leon&#8217;s mother was Vicktoria Krucznoka, born in Poland<\/li>\n<li>Leon&#8217;s birth was recorded in January 1905<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The surname of the family was misspelled Jzbicki in this record .\u00a0 Since this record is a transcription of the originals maintained at the town level, this may be a transcription error.<\/p>\n<p>Leon&#8217;s father is listed as W. Boles\u0142aw Jzbicki .\u00a0 The initial &#8220;W.&#8221; preceding the name stands for &#8220;William&#8221;, a name that Boles\u0142aw used in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Leon&#8217;s mother is listed as Vicktoria Krucznoka .\u00a0 The proper spelling of her name is probably Wiktoria Kruczy\u0144ska.<\/p>\n<p>As a last note, tonight I watched the televised version of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ancestors.com\">&#8220;Questions and Ancestors&#8221;<\/a> on BYU Television .\u00a0 Tonight&#8217;s episode was entitled &#8220;Researching New England Ancestors&#8221; and featured David Lambert from the <a title=\"New England Historic Genealogical Society\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newenglandancestors.org\/\">New England Historic Genealogical Society<\/a> (NEHGS) in Boston .\u00a0 David described ways to search for ancestors in New England and also discussed the resources available at the NEHGS.<\/p>\n<p>During the show, David Lambert\u00c2\u00a0confirmed what I have suspected: the images of Massachusetts Vital Records from 1841-1910 available to members on the NEHGS website are digital images of the original ledgers, not the microfilms .\u00a0 These images are\u00c2\u00a0incredibly superior to the microfilm images available elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Copyright \u00a9 2007 by Stephen J.
