{"id":910,"date":"2006-12-27T23:30:35","date_gmt":"2006-12-28T06:30:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2006\/12\/27\/the-marriage-of-albert-francis-blackman-and-anastasia-rita-meleski\/"},"modified":"2016-07-23T11:26:38","modified_gmt":"2016-07-23T18:26:38","slug":"the-marriage-of-albert-francis-blackman-and-anastasia-rita-meleski","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/910","title":{"rendered":"The Marriage of Albert Francis Blackman and Anastasia Rita Meleski"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, while I was on the east coast, I stopped in at\u00c2\u00a0the Massachusetts Registry of Vital Records and Statistics and searched for\u00c2\u00a0the marriage records for my half-first-cousin-once-removed, Anastasia Rita Meleski .\u00a0 Anastasia Rita&#8217;s father, Joseph,\u00a0was my grandmother&#8217;s half brother.<\/p>\n<p>Anastasia Rita was married twice, once to Albert Blackman and once to Bernard Izbicki .\u00a0 However, I didn&#8217;t know when either of these marriages occurred\u00c2\u00a0or\u00c2\u00a0whether the first marriage ended in death or divorce.<\/p>\n<p>Anastasia Rita&#8217;s first marriage turned out to be to Albert Francis Blackman, someone about whom I previously knew precious little.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a class=\"imagelink\" title=\"Marriage Certificate for Albert Francis Blackman and Anastasia Rita Meleski\" href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/12\/VRM_Blackman_Meleski.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"image908\" style=\"width: 455px; height: 408px;\" src=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/12\/VRM_Blackman_Meleski.jpg\" alt=\"Marriage Certificate for Albert Francis Blackman and Anastasia Rita Meleski\" width=\"455\" height=\"408\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>The Marriage Certificate for Albert Francis Blackman and Anastasia Rita Meleski<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Click on the link for a PDF copy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/12\/VRM-Blackman-Albert-and-Meleski-Anastasia-1946.pdf\">Marriage Certificate for Albert Francis Blackman and Anastasia Rita Meleski &#8211; 1946<\/a> .\u00a0 The Marriage Certificate states that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Albert Francis Blackman was a 31 year old white man born and living in Boston<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">He was a journalist, and his parents were Clifford A. Blackman and Jane Goodrich<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Anastasia Rita Meleski was a 35 year old white woman born and living in Worcester<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">She was a social worker, and her parents were Joseph Meleski and Katherine Warchol<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Both Albert and Anastasia Rita were single at the time of marriage and this was the first marriage for both of them<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">The intention of marriage was entered at Worcester on 03 May 1946 and the certificate was issued on 04 May 1946 by Malcolm C Midgley<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">The wedding was\u00c2\u00a0solemnized on 08 May 1946\u00c2\u00a0in St. Mary&#8217;s Church in Worcester by Ladislaus J. Radzik, a priest residing at 15 Richland Street, Worcester<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">The certificate was received by the city or town clerk, Malcolm C Midgley on 09 May 1946<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">The Registered No. was 843 and the Intention No. was 816<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\">This marriage was recorded in the records in two places because the bride and groom lived in different places in Massachusetts .\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0The marriage\u00c2\u00a0was recorded in the Worcester records for 1946, Volume 153, Page 158 (the record above) and also in the Boston records for 1946 (APR. 28-MAY 10), Volume 17, Page 493 .\u00a0 I did not request the Boston record, since that record was a copy of the Worcester record.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Well, this record answers a lot of questions and provides me with quite a bit of information I didn&#8217;t have before .\u00a0 As far as I know, Albert Francis Blackman and Anastasia Rita Meleski had no children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\">Copyright \u00a9 2006 by Stephen J.
