{"id":814,"date":"2006-11-27T23:30:28","date_gmt":"2006-11-28T06:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2006\/11\/27\/inside-the-family-history-library\/"},"modified":"2020-10-05T12:13:08","modified_gmt":"2020-10-05T19:13:08","slug":"inside-the-family-history-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/814","title":{"rendered":"Inside the Family History Library"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I generally make two trips to the Family History Library every year.&nbsp; I could just order the microfilms through my local Family History Center, but I enjoy the atmosphere at the Library in Salt Lake City and I can focus totally on genealogy during the few days I&#8217;m there.&nbsp; With all the trips I&#8217;ve made to Salt Lake City, I&#8217;ve become fairly familiar with the Family History Library and I&#8217;ve witnessed quite a few changes over the years.&nbsp; A description of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.familysearch.org\/wiki\/en\/Guest_Resources_at_the_Family_History_Library\">Guest Resources<\/a> is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On my most recent trip, I asked if I could take some pictures in the Library and the staff told me that I could take pictures of anything I wanted.&nbsp; The only caution they made was that I shouldn&#8217;t take pictures of any people unless I first obtained their permission.&nbsp; Since Thanksgiving weekend is a slow time for the Library, I had few problems taking pictures without people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized is-style-default\"><a class=\"imagelink\" href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/11\/FHL-First-Floor-Computers.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/11\/FHL-First-Floor-Computers.jpg\" alt=\"Main Floor Computers\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"\/><\/a><figcaption><strong>Main Floor Computers<\/strong><br>SOURCE: Main Floor Computers (Salt Lake City, Salt Lake Co., Utah, USA); photographed by Stephen J. Bush, Franklin D.
