{"id":667,"date":"2006-10-18T22:15:38","date_gmt":"2006-10-19T05:15:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2006\/10\/18\/questions-and-ancestors\/"},"modified":"2022-04-04T08:36:27","modified_gmt":"2022-04-04T15:36:27","slug":"questions-and-ancestors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/667","title":{"rendered":"Questions and Ancestors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday, during one of the online chat sessions I attend as part of the classes I&#8217;m taking through the National Institute of Genealogical Studies, I learned that the Canadian television program <em>Ancestors in the Attic<\/em> is premiering this week.\u00a0 I searched the program schedule for Dish Network to see if, by chance, the program would be available here in San Francisco.\u00a0 It is not.<\/p>\n<p>I did, however, find a listing for a genealogical television program that I hadn&#8217;t heard of before &#8211; <em>Questions and Ancestors<\/em>.\u00a0 This program airs on BYUTV and I tuned in on Tuesday evening to a half-hour of How To Do British Research.\u00a0 The show is the televised version of a radio program that answers genealogical questions submitted by listeners\/viewers and is actually part of the Ancestors series that ran on PBS a few years back.<\/p>\n<p>Episodes in the series include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How To Get Started<\/li>\n<li>How To Use the Internet In Your Research<\/li>\n<li>Preserving Family Heritage<\/li>\n<li>How To Do African American Genealogy (The Freedman Bank Records)<\/li>\n<li>How To Do British Research<\/li>\n<li>Daughters of the American Revolution<\/li>\n<li>How To Do Oral History<\/li>\n<li>Using Cemetery Records<\/li>\n<li>Coats of Arms In Family History<\/li>\n<li>Using Military Records In Family History<\/li>\n<li>Native American Genealogy<\/li>\n<li>Tracing LDS Families<\/li>\n<li>Asian Genealogical Research<\/li>\n<li>Early American Immigration<\/li>\n<li>British Military Records<\/li>\n<li>Hispanic Research<\/li>\n<li>Basic Scandinavian Family History Research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a title=\"Questions and Ancestors\" href=\"http:\/\/byubroadcasting.org\/questionsandancestors\/\">Questions and Ancestors<\/a> website provides a form to submit your questions, an <a title=\"episode guide\" href=\"http:\/\/byubroadcasting.org\/questionsandancestors\/episodes.asp\">episode guide<\/a> with air dates for future programs, and links to downloadable podcasts of the episodes that can be played on your computer, downloaded to an iPod, or burned to a CD.<\/p>\n<p>Tune in and watch, or download and listen!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Copyright \u00a9 2006 by Stephen J.
