{"id":599,"date":"2006-09-25T23:30:51","date_gmt":"2006-09-26T06:30:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2006\/09\/25\/the-birth-and-baptism-of-franciszek-niedzialkowski\/"},"modified":"2016-06-12T11:54:20","modified_gmt":"2016-06-12T18:54:20","slug":"the-birth-and-baptism-of-franciszek-niedzialkowski","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/599","title":{"rendered":"The Birth and Baptism of Franciszek Niedzia\u0142kowski"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When my grandfather Kostanty Niedzia\u0142kowski came to America, he stayed with his Uncle Franciszek Niedzia\u0142kowski in Worcester, Massachusetts .\u00a0 Franciszek generally used the name Frank Niedzialkoski in the United States,\u00a0dropping the &#8220;w&#8221; from the surname.<\/p>\n<p>I found the Birth and Baptismal Record for Franciszek in the Szwelice Parish, north of Warsaw .\u00a0 As with other documents from Kingdom Poland (the Russian Partition) during the late 19th century, this document is in Russian.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a class=\"imagelink\" title=\"Birth and Baptismal Record for Franciszek Niedzialkowski\" href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/CRB-Niedzialkowski-Francisz.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"image598\" style=\"width: 458px; height: 343px;\" src=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/CRB-Niedzialkowski-Francisz.jpg\" alt=\"Birth and Baptismal Record for Franciszek Niedzialkowski\" width=\"458\" height=\"343\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Birth and Baptismal Record for Franciszek Niedzia\u0142kowski<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Click on the link for a PDF copy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/CRB-Niedzialkowski-Franciszek-1876.pdf\">Birth and Baptismal Record for Franciszek Niedzia\u0142kowski &#8211; 1876<\/a> .\u00a0 I wasn&#8217;t able to transcribe and translate the entire document .\u00a0 I&#8217;m not familiar with some of the words used in this document, and some of the words are fairly illegible .\u00a0 Nonetheless, I was able to determine that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Franciszek was born in the village of Pomoski on the 8th day of an illegible month in the year 1876<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Franciszek was baptized in the Szwelice parish on the 13th day of an illegible month in the year 1876 at 1 PM<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Franciszek&#8217;s parents were Wojciech (Adalbert) Niedzia\u0142kowski and Julianna Gutowska, both age 40<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Franciszek&#8217;s godparents were Franciszek Niedzia\u0142kowski and J\u00f3zefa Niedzia\u0142kowska<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Stanis\u0142aw Kudkowski was present at the baptism<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">The priest who baptized Francizek was a Father Gutkowski<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\">Wojciech Niedzia\u0142kowski had a brother Franciszek .\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Wojciech may have named his son after his brother and asked his brother to be the godfather of his child .\u00a0 Wojciech&#8217;s brother was born in 1842, and the Franciszek named as the godfather is about the right age.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">I&#8217;ll have to work on this document some more to try to\u00c2\u00a0decipher the month of birth .\u00a0 I may need to go back to the original microfilm and look at other documents written by this priest in order to figure this out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\">Copyright \u00a9 2006 by Stephen J.
