<\/a><\/p>\nBirth and Baptismal Record\u00c2\u00a0for Wawrzyniec Markiewicz<\/em><\/p>\n Click on the link for a PDF copy of the Birth and Baptismal Record for Wawrzyniec Markiewicz – 1891<\/a> .\u00a0 The record states:<\/p>\n 2 .\u00a0 Braciejowice – Markiewicz Wawrzyniec<\/strong><\/p>\n This happened in the village of Piotrawin on the 28th day of\u00c2\u00a0July \/ 9th day of\u00c2\u00a0August 1891 at twelve in the day .\u00a0 Tomasz Markiewicz appeared in person, age 32, a house owner in the village of Braciejowice, in the presence of\u00c2\u00a0Stanis\u0142aw Jakobik, age 26, and Andrzej Lejwoda, age 34, house owners in\u00c2\u00a0the village of Braciejowice – and he presented to us a child of the male sex, stating that it was born in the village of Braciejowice on the 26rd of\u00c2\u00a0July \/ 7th of\u00c2\u00a0August\u00c2\u00a0of this year, at\u00c2\u00a0ten o’clock in the morning – of his lawful wife Franciszka nee Piontkowa, age 23 .\u00a0 To this child at Holy Baptism performed on this date was given the name of Wawrzyniec, and his godparents were the above-mentioned\u00c2\u00a0Stanis\u0142aw Jakobik\u00c2\u00a0and Katarzyna Lejwoda .\u00a0 This document was read to the declarant father and to the witnesses, all of whom are illiterate, and signed by us.<\/p>\n Rev. C. Trembi\u0144ski, pastor of the Piotrawin Parish -\u00c2\u00a0Keeper of the documents of the civil state<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n The Birth and Baptismal Record shows that\u00c2\u00a0Wawrzyniec (Lawrence)\u00c2\u00a0was\u00c2\u00a0born at\u00c2\u00a010 AM\u00c2\u00a0on\u00c2\u00a0August 7, 1891\u00c2\u00a0in Braciejowice, baptized at\u00c2\u00a012 Noon on\u00c2\u00a0August 9, 1891\u00c2\u00a0in Piotrawin, his father was Tomasz Markiewicz, his mother was Franciszka Piontkowa, his godparents were Stanis\u0142aw\u00c2\u00a0Jacobik and Katarzyna (Katherine) Lejwoda, and he was baptized by the Rev. C. Trembi\u0144ski.<\/p>\n I didn’t have much trouble with the surnames in this record, partly because\u00c2\u00a0I recognized the surnames immediately .\u00a0 Most significantly, two of the people mentioned in this document have the surname Lejwoda .\u00a0 After immigrating to the United States, Stanis\u0142aw Markiewicz married Antonina Lejwoda .\u00a0 Antonina may even have been related to the Andrzej and Katarzyna Lejwoda named in this document.<\/p>\n According to this document, Tomasz was born in 1858-1859 and Franciszka was born in 1867-1868 .\u00a0 When considering\u00c2\u00a0their ages\u00c2\u00a0in the two previous baptismal records, Tomasz was born between 1857 and 1859, and\u00c2\u00a0Franciszka was born between 1862 and 1868.<\/p>\n Copyright \u00a9 2006 by Stephen J.
