{"id":546,"date":"2006-09-02T23:32:46","date_gmt":"2006-09-03T06:32:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2006\/09\/02\/the-birth-and-baptismal-record-of-marcin-danko\/"},"modified":"2016-05-22T19:43:54","modified_gmt":"2016-05-23T02:43:54","slug":"the-birth-and-baptismal-record-of-marcin-danko","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/546","title":{"rendered":"The Birth and Baptismal Record of Marcin Da\u0144ko"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, I showed the\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/541\">Marriage Record\u00c2\u00a0for Jakub Da\u0144ko and Agnieszka Sowa<\/a>, and previously I had shown the Birth and Baptismal Records for their children, the\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/128\">Birth and Baptismal Record for\u00c2\u00a0Michal Da\u0144ko<\/a> (my grandfather) and <a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/153\">Birth and Baptismal Record for\u00c2\u00a0Marianna\u00c2\u00a0Da\u0144ko<\/a> (my Great Aunt Mary Da\u0144ko Goli\u0144ski).<\/p>\n<p>I was told that Jakub and Agnieszka had several other children, including J\u00f3zef, Adalbert, Jan, Katarzyna, and Julianna, but I\u00c2\u00a0have been\u00c2\u00a0able to find the Birth and Baptismal Record for only one other child: Marcin.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a class=\"imagelink\" title=\"Birth and Baptismal Record for Marcin Danko\" href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/CRB-Danko-Marcin-1890.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"image544\" style=\"width: 458px; height: 394px;\" src=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/CRB-Danko-Marcin-1890.jpg\" alt=\"Birth and Baptismal Record for Marcin Danko\" width=\"458\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Birth and Baptismal Record for Marcin Da\u0144ko &#8211; 1890<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Click on the link for a PDF copy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/09\/CRB-Danko-Marcin-1890.pdf\">Birth and Baptismal Record for Marcin Da\u0144ko &#8211; 1890<\/a> .\u00a0 Marcin&#8217;s record shows that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Marcin was the 80th birth in Nienadowa in 1890 and was born in house number 207<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">He was born on November 11, 1890 and baptized on November 12, 1890<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Marcin was a legitimate, Catholic boy<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Marcin&#8217;s father was Jakub Da\u0144ko, son of the legitimately married couple Andrzej Da\u0144ko and Zofia Szyma\u0144ska<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Marcin&#8217;s mother was Agnieszka Sowa, daughter of the legitimately married couple Maciej Sowa and Katarzyna Jach<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Marcin&#8217;s godparents were Jakub Sowa, a farmer, and Zofia the wife of Jan Bal, also a farmer<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">The priest who baptized Marcin was J. S. Sasiowski and the midwife who delivered him was Rozalia Jarewa<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\">In addition to Marcin&#8217;s Birth and Baptismal Record, the same ledger page\u00c2\u00a0lsits several other baptismal events, and the surnames listed there also appear in my own family history:\u00a0 Wajda, G\u0142owacz, and Giergont .\u00a0 Also, from the <a title=\"comment\" href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2006\/08\/31\/the-dankos-of-nienadowa-and-wesola\/\">comment<\/a> provided by Lidia a few days ago, three surnames on this page appear in Lidia&#8217;s family history:\u00a0 Da\u0144ko, Sowa, and Majda.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The midwife who delivered Marcin, Rozalia Jarewa, might be using the feminine form of the surname Jara, and it&#8217;s interesting to note that Micha\u0142 Da\u0144ko&#8217;s Mother-in-Law was Magdalena Jara.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">One piece of information that doesn&#8217;t agree with other information I have is the given name of Jakub&#8217;s father .\u00a0 Every other document I have on the family states that Jakub&#8217;s father was Pawel Da\u0144ko .\u00a0 This record, however,\u00a0states that Jakub&#8217;s father was Andrzej Da\u0144ko .\u00a0 Perhaps the priest\u00c2\u00a0just confused Pawel Da\u0144ko with Pawel&#8217;s half-brother\u00c2\u00a0Andrzej .\u00a0 But that&#8217;s another story.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\">Copyright \u00a9 2006 by Stephen J.
