{"id":535,"date":"2006-08-31T22:25:44","date_gmt":"2006-09-01T05:25:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2006\/08\/31\/the-dankos-of-nienadowa-and-wesola\/"},"modified":"2016-04-25T14:03:15","modified_gmt":"2016-04-25T21:03:15","slug":"the-dankos-of-nienadowa-and-wesola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/535","title":{"rendered":"The Da\u0144kos of Nienadowa and Weso\u0142a"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in May, I wrote that I found three passenger manifests that might include the name of my <a title=\"Great Aunt Mary (Da\u0144ko) Goli\u0144ski\" href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/188\">Great Aunt Mary (Da\u0144ko) Goli\u0144ski<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Marianna Da\u0144ko, age 25, from Nienadowa, Austria<\/li>\n<li>Marya Da\u0144ko, age 27, from Nienadowa, Austria<\/li>\n<li>Marya Da\u0144ko, age 22, from Weso\u0142a, Austria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The 27 year old is my grandmother, Marya (Dziurzy\u0144ska) Da\u0144ko .\u00a0 The 25 year old is from the right village, but according to my cousins,\u00a0her age did not match Mary (Da\u0144ko) Goli\u0144ski&#8217;s birthdate .\u00a0 The 22 year old was the correct age, but from the wrong village.<\/p>\n<p>Based on a thorough analysis of all the information I was able to obtain about Mary (Da\u0144ko) Goli\u0144ski, I concluded that my Great Aunt Mary was the 25 year old from Nienadowa.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Lidia left a comment that sheds some light on the Marya Danko from Weso\u0142a:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Hallo, My name is Lidia, I&#8217;m 29 years old. I don&#8217;t speak English very well so first forgive me my mistakes.<br \/>\nIf I could make your search easier, I must say that is really low probability that Marya Da\u0144ko from Weso\u0142a could be your Great Aunt Mary.<br \/>\nMy mother&#8217;s family lives in Weso\u0142a near Dyn\u00f3w. Maybe both families (from Weso\u0142a and from Nienadowa) are connected but this connection might have very long history. I suppose that we must separate them and continue searching on right direction. Marya could be my mother&#8217;s Great Aunt. My mother&#8217;s Great Father&#8217;s name was Wawrzyniec Da\u0144ko. He married Katarzyna Wielgus (?) and they had seven children: Maria (was born about 1914), Ignacy, Tomasz, J\u00f3zef, Magdalena, Wiktoria (my Great Mother, born in 1919) and Salomea (she&#8217;s the only one who lives now). My family lives in Weso\u0142a, Barycz and Ryta G\u00f3rka. They are family connected with such families like: Majda, Sowa, Kustra.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This helps to clear things up a bit .\u00a0 Apparently, there was\u00c2\u00a0one Da\u0144ko family in Nienadowa, and another in Weso\u0142a .\u00a0 I am related to the Da\u0144kos of Nienadowa and Lidia is related to the Da\u0144kos of Weso\u0142a .\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Based on the information\u00c2\u00a0Lidia and I have on our respective ancestors, there is no evidence for a direct connection between the two families, although both Da\u0144ko families are related to people with the surname Sowa.<\/p>\n<p>The villages of Nienadowa and Weso\u0142a are, nevertheless, not far from each other .\u00a0 The Weso\u0142a parish belongs to the\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/przemyska.pl\/dekanaty\/\">deaconate of Dyn\u00f3w<\/a>, and the village of Nienadowa belongs to the\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/przemyska.pl\/dekanaty\/\">deaconate of Dubiecko<\/a> .\u00a0 The two deaconates are adjacent to each other.<\/p>\n<p>Lidia&#8217;s message helps to clear up some questions about my Great Aunt Mary, but leads to the question of whether the two Da\u0144ko families are related to each other .\u00a0 With additional research on the two families, perhaps a connection could be found .\u00a0 Given that the parish records in Poland generally don&#8217;t extend back farther in time than the late 18th century, any connection between the two families\u00c2\u00a0must have occurred within the last 200 years for parish records to provide an answer to this question.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, it&#8217;s still exciting to think that Lidia may be a distant cousin .\u00a0 Unfortunately, the Family History Library has not yet microfilmed the records from either Dubiecko (where the records for Nienadowa were maintained) or Weso\u0142a and any research on these church records must be conducted at the parishes themselves.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Copyright \u00a9 2006 by Stephen J.
