{"id":451,"date":"2006-08-03T23:18:18","date_gmt":"2006-08-04T06:18:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2006\/08\/03\/john-jwanauskis-declaration-of-intention\/"},"modified":"2016-05-22T16:11:48","modified_gmt":"2016-05-22T23:11:48","slug":"john-jwanauskis-declaration-of-intention-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/451","title":{"rendered":"John Jwanauski&#8217;s Declaration of Intention"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last month I received an email from Jay Evans who told me that he had been unsuccessfully looking for\u00c2\u00a0the Immigrant Passenger Manifest for John Jwanauski, and asked me if I had any suggestions.<\/p>\n<p>I asked Jay for more information and he sent me three documents that should provide all the information necessary to find the Passenger Manifest.<\/p>\n<p>The first document Jay sent was John Jwanauski&#8217;s Declaration of Intention to become a citizen of the United States.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><a class=\"imagelink\" title=\"John Jwanauski's Declaration of Intention\" href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/John-Jwanauski-Declaration.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"image448\" style=\"width: 460px; height: 581px;\" src=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/John-Jwanauski-Declaration.jpg\" alt=\"John Jwanauski's Declaration of Intention\" width=\"460\" height=\"581\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Declaration of Intention for John Jwanauski<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Click on the link for a PDF copy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/08\/IMD-Jwanauski-John-1917.pdf\">Declaration of Intention for John Jwanauski &#8211; 1917<\/a> .\u00a0 The Declaration states that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">John Jwanauski filed Declaration of Intention No. 1796 in the District Court of Waterbury in\u00c2\u00a0Waterbury, Connecticut<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">He was 20 years old when he filed this document on March 3, 1917<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">John was employed as a Shop Hand<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">John was white, had a light complexion, was 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighed 165 pounds, with light brown hair and gray eyes<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">He was born in Kovno, Russia on October 28, 1897<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">At the time he filed the declaration, John resided at 995 Bank St, Waterbury, Conn.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">John emigrated to America from Bremen, Germany on the Grosser Kurfurst and arrived at the port of New York in the state of New York on December 15, 1912<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">John&#8217;s last residence was in Kovno, Russia<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">He was not married<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\">Tomorrow: John Jwanauski&#8217;s Enlistment in the United States Army<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"left\">Copyright \u00a9 2006 by Stephen J.
