On 14 May 1849, Philipp Lather, son of Balthasar Lather and Elisabetha Margaretha Lather, was born in Kirtorf, Alsfeld Kreis, Hesse-Darmstadt (now Germany). He was baptized in the parish church in Kirtorf, Alsfeld Kreis, Hesse-Darmstadt (now Germany) on 28 May 1849.<\/p>\n

At six o’clock in the evening of May fourteenth in the year of the Lord eighteen-hundred forty-nine, after a credible report, the fifth child and second son was born to Balthasar Lather, citizen and master tailor here, and his wife Elisabetha [one word?] n\u00e9e Lather and, on the twenty-eighth of the same month, the child was baptized and given the name:<\/p>\n

The sponsor was:<\/p>\n

Philipp Sch\u00ed\u00a4fer, legitimate little son of the local miller, Balthasar Sch\u00ed\u00a4fer but, because he has not yet been confirmed, the father stood in as baptismal witness. The sponsor and his father signed the present document next to the father of the child being baptized and me, the second minister of Kirtorf, who performed the baptism.<\/p>\n
