Translated from the French the record reads:<\/p>\n Bap[tism] of Fran\u00ed\u00a7ois Fortin<\/p>\n In the year one-thousand six-hundred ninety-five on the third day of the month of November was baptized in this parish by R P Onuphre Godefroy missionary Recollect, Fran\u00ed\u00a7ois, born the twenty-eighth of the preceding October, son of Eustache Fortin and Louise Cloutier his wife. The Godfather was Ren\u00e9 Cloutier grandfather of the infant, and the Godmother was Ursule Cloutier, wife of Mr. Nicolas Gamache who have declared that they do not know who to sign as required by law. The father has signed.
