{"id":277,"date":"2006-06-14T01:00:45","date_gmt":"2006-06-14T08:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2006\/06\/14\/the-marriage-of-jan-dziura-and-magdalena-jara\/"},"modified":"2016-05-12T11:30:37","modified_gmt":"2016-05-12T18:30:37","slug":"the-marriage-of-jan-dziura-and-magdalena-jara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/277","title":{"rendered":"The Marriage of Jan Dziura and Magdalena Jara"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday, I wrote about a possible connection to my Dziurzy\u0144ski ancestors that I discovered through the message boards .\u00a0 Of the 50 birth\/baptism, marriage, and death records I have from the\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.parafiadubiecko.pl\/\">parish in Dubiecko, Poland<\/a>, only three mention the Dziurzy\u0144skis:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The marriage record of my great grandparents, Jan Dziura and Magdalena Jara<\/li>\n<li>The birth\/baptismal record of my uncle and Godfather, Jan (John) Da\u0144ko<\/li>\n<li>The birth\/baptismal record of my aunt, Zofia (Sophie) Da\u0144ko<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/CRM-Dziura-Jan-and-Jara-Magdalena-1875-Crop.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17750\" src=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/CRM-Dziura-Jan-and-Jara-Magdalena-1875-Crop.jpg\" alt=\"CRM-Dziura-Jan-and-Jara-Magdalena-1875-Crop\" width=\"546\" height=\"337\" \/><\/a>\u00c2\u00a0Marriage Record of Jan Dziura and Magdalena Jara<\/p>\n<p>The marriage record of my great grandparents Jan Dziura and Magdalena Jara was, as were all records from <a title=\"Galicia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Galicia_%28Central_Europe%29\">Galicia<\/a> (the Austrian <a title=\"partition of Poland\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Partitions_of_Poland\">partition of Poland<\/a>), written in Latin in a columnar format .\u00a0 The record, the second entry on this page, was recorded on page 229 of the register\u00c2\u00a0and states that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The couple was married on September 16, 1875<\/li>\n<li>The bride resided in the Dubiecko parish in house number 32<\/li>\n<li>The groom was from Sielnica [in Dylagowa parish]<\/li>\n<li>The groom was Jan Dziura, a farmer, son of Stanis\u0142aw Dziura and Katarzyna Martowicz, a married couple who were farmers<\/li>\n<li>The groom was Catholic, 37 years old and a bachelor<\/li>\n<li>The bride was Magdalena Jara, widow of Jan Siwarski, daughter of Andreas Jara and Agnieszka Matwij, a married couple who were farmers<\/li>\n<li>The bride was Catholic, 30 years old, and a widow<\/li>\n<li>The witnesses were Jan Grzebieniak and Jan Kucz, farmers<\/li>\n<li>The banns of marriage were read in Dubiecko on October 31, November 1, and November 7, 1875<\/li>\n<li>The banns of marriage were also read in the groom&#8217;s parish of Dylagowa on November 15, 1875<\/li>\n<li>The groom resided in house number 72<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This record shows that my great grandfather was from the village Sielnica in Dyl\u0105gowa parish and my great grandmother was from Dubiecko parish .\u00a0 Moreover, it shows that my great grandmother had been previously married and was a widow at 30 years of age .\u00a0 This record also gives the names of my great great grandparents, and shows that in 1875, the family was using the surname Dziura, not Dziurzy\u0144ski .\u00a0 As with most of the old records I have from Poland, I cut and pasted the relevant portions of this record into a Word document and then saved the record as a\u00c2\u00a0<a title=\"PDF file\" href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2006\/06\/CRM-Dziura-Jan-and-Jara-Magdalena-1875.pdf\">PDF<\/a> file of the marriage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Copyright \u00a9 2006 by Stephen J.
