In the year 1731 and the 15th of October, after having made
\nthree publications at the parish masses
\nthe promise of Marriage between Pierre
\nGautrot, age 22 years, son of Fran\u00ed\u00a7ois
\nGautrot and Louise Aucoin de Cobesunt,
\nand Agn\u00ed\u00a8s LeBlanc, age about 20
\nyears, daughter of Pierre LeBlanc and Fran\u00ed\u00a7oise
\nLandry, and not finding any
\nimpediments to this marriage, I the undersigned
\nmissionary of the parish of St. Charles
\nof the Mines, and [?] vicar of the Monsignor of
\nSasmos, coadjutant of the diocese of
\nQu\u00e9bec, having received mutual consent
\nof the parties present and have
\ngiven the nuptial benediction according
\nto the ceremonies of the Church, in the presence
\nof the parents and the signed witnesses: Fran\u00ed\u00a7ois
\nGautrot, father, Ren\u00e9 Aucoin, Jean LeBlanc,
\nPierre Landry. Many have signed; the
\nothers have made their ordinary mark
\nwith the groom who has declared that he does
\nnot know how to sign.<\/p>\n

This record can be found as images 117\/166 and 118\/166 in the Acadia French Catholic Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1670-1946 on Ancestry.com in the records for St-Charles-les-Mines Mariages 1709-1748. The record appears on the front of folio 115 and the front of folio 116.<\/p>\n

Since I’m not familiar with the offices of the Catholic Church in New France, I don’t quite understand the title of the priest, which I translated as “missionary of the parish of St. Charles of the Mines, and [?] vicar of the Monsignor of Sasmos, coadjutant of the diocese of Qu\u00e9bec”.<\/p>\n
