Translated from the French the record reads:

Burial Marie Franí§oise Landry

In seventeen hundred sixty seven on the fourteenth day of October, by me the undersigned priest, the body of Marie Franí§oise Landry who died yesterday armed with all the sacraments, age sixty years, wife of Pierre LeBlanc, was buried in the cemetery of this parish, in the presence of Mister Ducondu and Jean Baptiste Guigiolet who has declared that he is unable to sign as required.
         F Ducondue          Raizenne, missionary priest

This record can be found as image 80/136 in the Quebec Vital Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967 on Ancestry.com in the records for Lavaltrie 1753-1783. The record appears on the reverse of folio 76.

The dates of Marie Franí§oise Landry’s death and burial are somewhat ambiguous. The record seems to state that the date of burial was “le quortreme jours d octobre”, but the word “quortreme” could be a misspelling of either quatrií¨me (fourth) or quatorzií¨me (fourteenth). The record immediately preceding this one clearly states that it was recorded on the twelfth and the record immediately following this one clear states it was recorded on the twenty-fifth. I assume that this record must have been recorded between these two dates. Therefore, I conclude that the correct date is the fourteenth of October, 1767.

Copyright © 2008 by Stephen J.
