This entry is for a village currently in the Masovian Voivodeship and which belongs to the Szelk\u00f3w parish. Today, the village of Smrock is two villages: Smrock-Dw\u00f3r and Smrock-Kolonia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Nazwy Miejscowe Polski<\/em>&nbsp;indicates that Smrock was in the Szelk\u00f3w Gmina, Ostro\u0142\u0119ka Voivodeship in the years 1975-1998, and is 4 kilometers southeast of Mak\u00f3w Mazowiecki. Mentions of the village include <em>Smroczko<\/em> in 1402, <em>Smroczszko<\/em> in (1424) 1456, <em>Smroczko, Smoroczsko<\/em> in 1426, <em>Smroczsko<\/em> in (1442) 1456, <em>Szmroczsk<\/em> in 1465, villa nostra ducali <em>Szmroczko<\/em> in 1465, <em>Smroczko<\/em> in 1482, <em>Smroczek<\/em> in 1484, <em>Szmroczsko<\/em> in 1496, <em>Smroczko, Smroczki<\/em> in 1508, <em>Smroczk<\/em> in 1511, <em>Smroczko<\/em> in 1532, <em>Smroczk<\/em> in 1546, przy wsi <em>Smroczku, Smroczk<\/em> in (1565), <em>Smroczko Regia<\/em> in 1582, <em>Smroczku<\/em>, przy wsi <em>Smroczkowie, Smroczk, Smroczko<\/em> in 1617, <em>Smrock<\/em> in 1783, 1827, and 1889, <em>Smrock<\/em>, w\u015b, kol. in 1921, <em>Smrock Dw\u00f3r, Smrock Kolonia<\/em> in 1952, and <em>Smrock-Dw\u00f3r, -ka-Dworu, Smrock-Kolonia, -ka-nii, smrocki<\/em> in 1971.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally called Smroczsko from the name of a settlement Smrok (compare zmrok) or perhaps from the variant name of the spruce tree smrok, with the suffix -sko or -sk.
