The third entry applies to the village of Shel&#8217;viv (\u0428\u0435\u043b\u044c\u0432\u0456\u0432) which is now in the Volyn Oblast of Ukraine and which will not be discussed here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, the parish of St. Simon and Jude Thaddeus is seated in Stary Szelkow. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/parafie.diecezja.lomza.pl\/ad\/parafie,1\/szelkow-parafia-pw-sw-ap-szymona-i-judy-tadeusza,149\">parish website<\/a>, the parish includes the villages of Ciepielewo, Kaptury, Laski, \u0141a\u015b, Magnuszew Du\u017cy, Magnuszew Ma\u0142y, Nowy Sielc, Nowy Strachocin, Nowy Szelk\u00f3w, Orzyc, Rostki, Smrock Dw\u00f3r, Smrock Kolonia, Stary Sielc, Stary Strachocin, Stary Szelk\u00f3w, and \u015aw. Translated from the Polish, the first entry reads:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Szelk\u00f3w<\/strong>, a village and manor estate on the Orzyc River, Mak\u00f3w powiat, Smrock gmina, Szelk\u00f3w parish, is located on the Warsaw-Kowno highway, 72 km from Warsaw. It has a brick parish church and a post office. In 1827, there were 16 houses and 123 inhabitants. In 1867, the Szelk\u00f3w manor estate covered 870 m\u00f3rgs [Gerald Ortell&#8217;s book on Polish Parish Records states that in the Russian partition 1 m\u00f3rg = 1.388 acres]: 270 m\u00f3rgs of arable land and gardens, 14 m\u00f3rgs of meadows, 70 m\u00f3rgs of pastures, 240 m\u00f3rgs of forest, 220 m\u00f3rgs of thickets, and 56 m\u00f3rgs of unproductive land. The village of Szelk\u00f3w had 17 settlements and 104 m\u00f3rgs of land. Miko\u0142aj, son of Widon, a canon of P\u0142ock, in 1247 in P\u0142ock, in the presence of Prince Boles\u0142aw and with his permission, granted to the P\u0142ock church for the bishop&#8217;s table &#8220;the estate which is commonly called Selcovo&#8230; with the adjacent villages&#8221; (Kod. Maz., 13). The church and parish were established in 1402 by Bishop Jakub of P\u0142ock. The present church was built in 1817. In the P\u0142ock castle in 1247, Boles\u0142aw I, the Duke of Mazovia, confirmed the grant of the villages of \u017beromino and Szelk\u00f3w by P., the canon of P\u0142ock, to the P\u0142ock church (Ulanow. Documents of Mazovia, 155, 7). In 1582, the village of &#8220;Selkow&#8221; with its parish church paid taxes on 9 1\/2 \u0142ans (land units), 2 homesteads, and 1 craftsman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Copyright \u00a9 2025 by Stephen J.
