{"id":23183,"date":"2023-05-07T16:02:36","date_gmt":"2023-05-07T23:02:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/?p=23183"},"modified":"2023-05-07T16:04:14","modified_gmt":"2023-05-07T23:04:14","slug":"the-act-of-9-april-1938-on-changing-the-borders-of-voivodships-within-poland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/23183","title":{"rendered":"The Act of 9 April 1938 on Changing the Borders of Voivodships within Poland"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The March Constitution of the Second Polish Republic (adopted on 17 March 1921) established a political system based on the separation of powers and restored a bicameral Sejm consisting of a chamber of deputies and the senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 9 April 1938, the Sejm issued an act to change the borders of some of the Voivodeships within Poland. These changes were short-lived. Sejm. <em>Dziennik Ustaw<\/em>, 1938 nr 27 poz. 240. &#8220;Ustawa z dnia 9 kwietnia 1938 r. o zmianie granic wojew\u00f3dztw: bia\u0142ostockiego, kieleckiego, lubelskiego, \u0142\u00f3dzkiego i warszawskiego;<br>Image copy. <em>ISAP &#8211; Internetowy System Akt\u00f3w Prawnych.<\/em><br><em>(<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/isap.sejm.gov.pl\/isap.nsf\/DocDetails.xsp?id=WDU19380270240\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/isap.sejm.gov.pl\/isap.nsf\/DocDetails.xsp?id=WDU19380270240<\/a><\/em> : accessed 07 May 2023).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>240<br>ACT<\/strong><br>of April 9, 1938<br>on changing the borders of the following voivodships:<br>Bia\u0142ystok, Lubelskie, \u0141\u00f3dzkie and Warsaw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Article 1.<\/strong><br>(1) The following shall be included in the area of the \u0141\u00f3d\u017a Voivodeship:<br>1) from the Warsaw Voivodship, the powiats of Kutno, \u0141owicz, Skierniewice and Rawa;<br>2) from the Kielce Voivodeship, the powiats: Opoczno and Ko\u0144skie, with the exception of the municipal communes: Skar\u017cysko-Kamienna and Szyd\u0142owiec and the rural communes: Bli\u017cyn and Szyd\u0142owiec.<br>(2) Included in the area of the Warsaw Voivodeship:<br>1) from the Bia\u0142ystok Voivodship, the powiats of Ostro\u0142\u0119ka, Ostr\u00f3w and \u0141om\u017ca;<br>2) from the Lubelskie Voivodeship, the powiats of Soko\u0142ow, W\u0119gr\u00f3w and Garwolin, and the commune of Irena from the Pu\u0142awy powiat.<br><strong>Article 2.<\/strong><br>The Minister of the Interior and other competent ministers, according to the scope of their activities, are entrusted with the execution of this Act.<br><strong>Article 3.<\/strong><br>This Act shall enter into force on April 1, 1939.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President of the Republic: <em>I.
