Translated from the French the record reads:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Bap[tism] of Ignace Gamache 1683<\/p>\n<p>On the twentieth day of the month of August in the year one thousand six hundred eighty three was baptized in Cap St. Ignace by me, Morel, missionary priest of the Seminary of Qu\u00e9bec, serving in the functions of pastor of this same place and others. Ignace, son of Nicolas Gamache and of Ursule Cloutier, his wife, born on this same day and year. The Godfather by solicitor was Philipe Bernier, son of Jacques Bernier, acting for Mister Thomas Morel, missionary priest of the Seminary of Qu\u00e9bec.
