Translated from the French the record reads:<\/p>\n<p>Baptism of Marie Anne Gamache<\/p>\n<p>On the twenty eighth day of the month of December in the year one thousand seven hundred forty nine, by us, the undersigned missionary priest of Cap St. Ignace, was baptized Marie Anne, born yesterday, daughter of Pierre Gamache and Genevieve Belanger, his legitimate wife. The Godfather was Andr\u00e9 Richard and the Godmother was Louise St. Jean, who have declared that they do not know how to sign as required by law.<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 [signed] J[ean] F[ran\u00ed\u00a7ois] Curot priest<\/p>\n<p>This record can be found as image 18\/33 in the Qu\u00e9bec Vital Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967 on Ancestry.com in the records for Cap St. Ignace 1747-1751. The record appears on the back of folio 16.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE 10 Feb 2008: Initially, I was\u00c2\u00a0unable to clearly read the name of the priest, but <a title=\"The Nomadic Researcher\" href=\"http:\/\/chercheurnomade.blogspot.com\/\">The Nomadic Researcher<\/a> wrote to tell me:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Jean-Fran\u00ed\u00a7ois Curot arrived on November 1st, 1747 as a priest in Cap St-Ignace; he was there for the next 17 years.<\/p>\n<p>Source : Patrimoine et Histoire de chez nous : Cap-Saint-Ignace.
