On the fourth of October one thousand seven hundred seventy seven, by us, the undersigned pastor of the parish of Cap St. Ignace, was baptized Marie Genevieve, born of the legitimate marriage of Aubin Gamache and Marie Th\u00e9r\u00e9se Silvestre. The Godfather was Eustache Silvestre, lon<\/strike> maternal uncle, and the Godmother was Mariane Gamache, paternal aunt, who have declared that they do not know how to sign. The father was absent.

This record can be found as image 500\/948 in the Qu\u00e9bec Vital Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967 on Ancestry.com in the records for Cap St. Ignace 1679-1808. The record appears on the front of folio 7.<\/p>\n

In many French-Canadian Records, both the date of birth and the date of baptism are provided, but only the date of baptism is provided in this record.<\/p>\n

This record names two more family members: Eustache Silvestre, maternal uncle, and Mariane Gamache, paternal aunt.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 10 Feb 2008: Initially, I was\u00c2\u00a0unable to clearly read the name of the priest, but The Nomadic Researcher<\/font><\/a>\u00c2\u00a0sent me a page from\u00c2\u00a0Patrimoine et Histoire de chez nous : Cap-Saint-Ignace. Cap-Saint-Ignace, \u00ed\u2030ditions La Plume d’Oie, 2002, 790 p. (Collection Patrimoine et Histoire de chez nous, Volume 1) (p. 29).<\/p>\n
