Alas, I should have expected this!\u00c2\u00a0 Best Picture I have .\u00a0 Best Documentary I have .\u00a0 But, the other three categories… not so much .\u00a0 Nonetheless, with a little creative interpretation of the categories and (in one category) a blatant case of backposting to my blog something I had previously posted elsewhere, I am pleased to announce the following winning articles from Steve’s Genealogy Blog<\/em> in all five categories.<\/p>\n The award for Best Picture<\/strong> goes to Steve in Corsica<\/em> from my post Ajaccio Cemetery and the Coast of Corsica<\/a> .\u00a0 This really was a tough category for me to choose a winner because\u00c2\u00a0 I posted several hundred photos on my blog in 2011 .\u00a0 Runners up included photos from St. Peter’s Square in Rome, Knip Beach in Curacao, the outdoor market in Nice, and on and on .\u00a0 Oddly enough, with all the photos I took and posted on this blog in 2011, the winner is a picture taken by someone else!\u00c2\u00a0 Well, at least the subject of the winning photo is devilishly handsome!<\/p>\n Steve in Corsica<\/em><\/p>\n SOURCE:\u00a0 The Author in Corsica (Ajaccio, Corsica, France); photographed by Jim Robinson for Stephen J. Danko on 09 August 2011.<\/p>\n The award for Best Screen Play<\/strong> is awarded to Evita Per\u00f3n’s Final Resting Place, Buenos Aires<\/a> which includes photos I took of Evita’s tomb during my visit to Argentina a year ago .\u00a0 I think I will call the screen play Evita!<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0 OK, so it’s been done .\u00a0 But my version will include Argentine actress Elena Roger as Evita, Michael Cerveris as Juan Per\u00f3n, and Ricky Martin as Ch\u00e9 .\u00a0 What, you say it’s already in the works?\u00c2\u00a0 Indeed, it is .\u00a0 The revival of the musical Evita!<\/em> with Elena Roger, Michael Cerveris, and Ricky Martin opens on Broadway in March .\u00a0 If, when you listen to the words Ch\u00e9 sings and wonder what the Casa Rosada (Argentina’s executive mansion) looks like, you can find a picture of that in my post on Casa Rosada and Edificio Libertador, Buenos Aires<\/a>.<\/p>\n The award for Best Documentary<\/strong> goes to my 15-part miniseries detailing the proceedings at the Seventh International Family Tree DNA Conference for Group Administrators .\u00a0 The series started with a post on 24 November 2011 and continued through 08 December 2012 .\u00a0 Individual episodes included:<\/p>\n The award for Best Biography<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0is awarded\u00c2\u00a0to Wojciech Gutowski<\/a>, Wojciech’s wife Anna Jab\u0142onowska<\/a>, and their daughter Julianna<\/a> .\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I have been searching for them for years!\u00c2\u00a0 After Donna Pointkouski told me that she found the marriage record of her ancestors online and that they were married in Holy Cross parish in Warsaw, I jumped for joy!\u00c2\u00a0 My 2nd great grandmother was baptized in that same church!\u00c2\u00a0 Well,\u00a0not only did I find the baptismal record for my 2nd great grandmother, but I found the marriage record<\/a> for her parents and the death record for her father!\u00c2\u00a0 OK, so this biography is little more than a collection of names, dates, and places, but it’s the best I have for 2011.<\/p>\n Finally, the award for Best Comedy<\/strong> goes to Welcome to GARP<\/a> .\u00a0 This is the article\u00c2\u00a0that I shamelessly backposted to my blog to make it look like I posted it in 2011 .\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I had written\u00c2\u00a0this article\u00c2\u00a0and sent it to the APG (Association of Professional Genealogists) mailing list on 31 December 2011, but\u00c2\u00a0I didn’t post it\u00c2\u00a0to my blog\u00c2\u00a0at that time .\u00a0 You see, in reviewing the 351\u00c2\u00a0articles I had\u00c2\u00a0posted to\u00c2\u00a0this blog in 2011, none of them were funny .\u00a0 Not in the least .\u00a0 At least some of the members of APG who read my post to the mailing list thought this post was funny and so I recently decided to\u00c2\u00a0reproduce it here in slightly modified form .\u00a0 Or, maybe you had to be there…<\/p>\n Written for the 114th Edition of the Carnival of Genealogy.<\/p>\n Copyright \u00a9 2012 by Stephen J.
