It forms the terminus of the Acqua Felice, one of the main aqueducts of Rome. The fountain is modeled after the ancient Roman triumphal arches. At the top of the structure are angels displaying the papal coat of arms and an inscription honoring its builder, Pope Sixtus V.<\/p>\n<p>The main part of the fountain, at street level includes three biblical scenes.
