Back in November, my nephew Lukas sent me Flat Stanley, a project for his first grade class .\u00a0 I had heard about the Flat Stanley Project and was excited to take Flat Stanley on a tour of San Francisco<\/a> .\u00a0 In the book, Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown, Stanley is squashed flat\u00c2\u00a0by a bulletin board, but, happily, he can now visit his friends by traveling in an envelope .\u00a0 The official Flat Stanley Project<\/a> involves sending Flat Stanley to students in another school, but I’ve\u00c2\u00a0heard stories of Flat Stanley being sent to relatives .\u00a0 Today, I’ll share with you the report I sent back to my nephew’s class about Flat Stanley’s San Francisco Adventure, and if this isn’t enough, you can read Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak’s article Flat Stanley Does His Roots<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hi, this is Flat Stanley .\u00a0 I went on a trip to San Francisco, California to visit Lukas’ Uncle Steve .\u00a0 We drove all over the city and saw lots of sights .\u00a0 First, we went to the place Uncle Steve works .\u00a0 He works for a company called Telik .\u00a0 They make medicine for sick people.<\/p>\n

\"Flat<\/a><\/p>\n

Then we went to Lombard Street<\/a> in San Francisco .\u00a0 This street is called the Crookedest Street in the World.<\/p>\n

\"Flat<\/a><\/p>\n

We saw Coit Tower, a famous tower on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco .\u00a0 Even though it was still daytime, the moon was already out.<\/p>\n

\"Flat<\/a><\/p>\n

I waited for Uncle Steve, while he took a picture of Coit Tower .\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Here I am,\u00a0waiting at Uncle Steve’s car .\u00a0 Boy, the streets here are steep!<\/p>\n

\"Flat<\/a><\/p>\n

We went to the Palace of Fine Arts<\/a> .\u00a0 This place was built 90 years ago in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific Exposition<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Flat<\/a><\/p>\n

Then we went to the Palace of the Legion of Honor<\/a> .\u00a0 This is a famous art museum in San Francisco.<\/p>\n

\"Flat<\/a><\/p>\n

Uncle Steve took this picture of me with this statue at the Palace of the Legion of Honor .\u00a0 It is called “The Thinker<\/a>” .\u00a0 What do you think The Thinker is thinking about?\u00c2\u00a0 I’m sure I don’t know.<\/p>\n

We drove to the Golden Gate Bridge<\/a> .\u00a0 This is a suspension bridge in San Francisco .\u00a0 It is built where the Pacific Ocean meets the San Francisco Bay<\/a> .\u00a0 Other tourists stopped to talk to me here.<\/p>\n

\"Flat<\/a><\/p>\n

Then we drove to Golden Gate Park and visited a Tulip Garden<\/a> named after Queen Wilhelmina<\/a> of the Netherlands .\u00a0 The windmill is over\u00c2\u00a0a hundred\u00c2\u00a0years old.<\/p>\n

\"Flat<\/a><\/p>\n

From there we walked to a beach on the Pacific Ocean<\/a> .\u00a0 We got there just when the sun was setting over the Pacific Ocean<\/a> .\u00a0 It was beautiful.<\/p>\n

\"Flat<\/a><\/p>\n

Finally, it was time to go home .\u00a0 It was a very busy day .\u00a0 But, before we went home, Uncle Steve took one last picture of the windmill with the moon behind it.<\/p>\n
