Translated from the Polish, the record reads:<\/p>\n Ruda 280<\/p>\n This happened in the village of Ma\u0142y P\u0142ock on the eighth \/ [twentieth day of December] in the year one-thousand eight-hundred fifty-seven at the hour of [one word?] in the afternoon .\u00a0 There appeared Jan Kaczmarczyk, a peasant farmer residing in [Ruda], thirty-two years of age, in the [presence] of Jan B\u0142\u0119das, thirty-seven years of age, and J\u00f3zef Kossakowski, thirty years of age, both peasant farmers in [Ruda?], and he showed Us a child of the female sex, born in Ruda yesterday at the hour of ten before noon of himself and his [wife] Ma\u0142gorzata n\u00e9e Dymek, thirty-two years of age .\u00a0 [To this child] at Holy Baptism on this day was given the name Ewa, and her Godparents [were the afore]-mentioned Jan B\u0142\u0119das and Anna Siwik .\u00a0 [This] document was read aloud to the declarant father and the witnesses and was [signed only] by Us .\u00a0 The father and witnesses do not know how to write. The page on which this record was written was damaged and the far right edge of the page is missing .\u00a0 I completed the record with words I know should be there .\u00a0 The only words I could not recreate were the hour when Jan Kaczmarczyk brought the child to the church and the place of residence of the witnesses (probably Ruda).<\/p>\n Copyright \u00a9 2011 by Stephen J.
