This must have been a rough time for the family. Translated from the French, the record states:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">S.67 [Burial #67]<br \/>\nHormisdas<br \/>\nPatenaude<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">On the twentieth of December, one thousand eight hundred eighty one, we, the undersigned priest have buried in the cemetery of this parish, the body of Hormisdas, who died on the eighteenth of the current month at seventeen years of age, the legitimate boy of Charles Patenaude and Osithe Gamache of this parish. Those present were: Jean Marcoux and Charles Patenaude, who were not able to sign.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">[signed] W[ilfred] Lussier, Priest<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p align=\"left\">Hormisdas Valentin Patenaude was <a title=\"born on 14 May 1864\" href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2007\/05\/07\/the-birth-and-baptismal-record-of-hormisdas-valentin-patenaude-1864\/\">born on 14 May 1864<\/a>, the second child and first-born son of Charles Patenaude and Osithe Gamache. His death record correctly states that he was seventeen years old at the time of his death.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The name Hormisdas is rather unusual. Hormisdas was apparently named for\u00c2\u00a0Saint Hormisdas, who was Pope from 514 to 523.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Saint Hormisdas\u00c2\u00a0was a widower at the time of his election to the papacy and he had a son, Silverius, who was also elected to the papacy. Saint Hormisdas is known for reuniting the Eastern and Western Churches, and his papacy is remembered as a time of peace in the Church .\u00a0Saint Hormisdas\u00c2\u00a0is the patron saint of grooms and stable boys.
