Online <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewishgen.org\/belarus\/1834_minsk_gubernia_map.htm\">http:\/\/www.jewishgen.org\/belarus\/1834_minsk_gubernia_map.htm<\/a>; downloaded 07 Feb 2011.<\/p>\n<p>A search on Wikipedia reveals that Napoleon&#8217;s army lost about 36,000 men when trying to cross the <a title=\"Berezina River\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Berezina\" target=\"_self\">Berezina River<\/a>, confirming that this is the site of the former village of Dymki .\u00a0 The third S\u0142ownik Geograficzny entry for Dymki states that &#8220;In the year 1812 on the last day of November, this place was witness to a terrible battle at the time of the retreat of the French .\u00a0 It was turned to ashes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Copyright \u00a9 2011 by Stephen J.
