{"id":11698,"date":"2011-01-23T23:30:21","date_gmt":"2011-01-24T07:30:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/index.php\/archives\/11698"},"modified":"2013-06-05T17:02:51","modified_gmt":"2013-06-06T00:02:51","slug":"finding-the-marriage-of-my-3rd-great-grandparents-on-geneteka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/11698","title":{"rendered":"Finding the Marriage of my 3rd Great Grandparents on Geneteka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have known for some time that my 2nd great grandmother Julianna Gutowska was baptized in about 1832-1833\u00c2\u00a0in Holy Cross Parish in Warsaw and that her parents were Wojciech Gutowski and Anna Jab\u0142onowska, but I had never been able to find her baptismal record .\u00a0 One problem is that Holy Cross Parish is huge, with thousands of baptisms each year .\u00a0 Another problem is that the record books\u00c2\u00a0are not indexed .\u00a0 When <a title=\"Donna Pointkouski\" href=\"http:\/\/pastprologue.wordpress.com\/2011\/01\/10\/finding-polish-records-online\/\" target=\"_self\">Donna Pointkouski<\/a> announced that she found the marriage record of her 2nd great grandparents on the Polish genealogy website <a title=\"Geneteka\" href=\"http:\/\/www.geneteka.genealodzy.pl\/\" target=\"_self\">Geneteka<\/a>, I rejoiced because she found the marriage record in Holy Cross Parish in Warsaw, the same parish that is the object of my own search!<\/p>\n<p>The records for Holy Cross Parish on Geneteka are limited to marriages from 1824-1866 .\u00a0 OK, what the heck .\u00a0 If my 2nd great grandmother was baptized in Holy Cross Parish in 1832-1833, perhaps her parents were married there in the time period indexed on Geneteka .\u00a0 I limited my search to Holy Cross Parish and entered Gutowski into the &#8220;Nazwisko&#8221; field .\u00a0 Here are the results:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Geneteka-Marriage-Index.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11714\" title=\"Geneteka Results Page\" alt=\"Geneteka Results Page\" src=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Geneteka-Marriage-Index.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Geneteka Results Page<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">There, at the bottom, the last entry shows the marriage of Wojciech Gutowski and Anna Jab\u0142onowska, my 3rd great grandparents!\u00c2\u00a0 And guess what?\u00c2\u00a0 There&#8217;s a scanned image attached, too!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Thanks, Donna, for finding the marriage record of your 2nd great grandparents because your discovery directly led to my own!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Copyright \u00a9 2011 by Stephen J.
