{"id":1067,"date":"2007-02-14T23:30:13","date_gmt":"2007-02-15T06:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/2007\/02\/14\/the-birth-and-baptism-of-jadwiga-danko\/"},"modified":"2019-02-18T10:03:20","modified_gmt":"2019-02-18T18:03:20","slug":"the-birth-and-baptism-of-jadwiga-danko","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/1067","title":{"rendered":"The Birth and Baptism of Jadwiga Da\u0144ko &#8211; 1847"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Jadwiga Da\u0144ko, daughter of Pawe\u0142 Da\u0144ko and Zofia Szyma\u0144ska, was born on 09 September 1847 in Nienadowa, Sanok Kreis, Lemberg Regierungsbezirk, Austrian Empire and was baptized on 09 September 1847 in the parish church in Dubiecko, Sanok Kreis, Lemberg Regierungsbezirk, Austrian Empire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/CRB-Danko-Jadwiga-1847-with-Header.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"387\" src=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/CRB-Danko-Jadwiga-1847-with-Header-1024x387.jpg\" alt=\"The Birth and Baptismal Record for Jadwiga Da\u0144ko - 1847\u00ef\u00bb\u00bf\" class=\"wp-image-21196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/CRB-Danko-Jadwiga-1847-with-Header-1024x387.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/CRB-Danko-Jadwiga-1847-with-Header-300x113.jpg 300w, https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/CRB-Danko-Jadwiga-1847-with-Header-768x290.jpg 768w, https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/CRB-Danko-Jadwiga-1847-with-Header.jpg 1817w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption> <strong>The Birth and Baptismal Record for Jadwiga Da\u0144ko &#8211; 1847<\/strong><br>Parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Dubiecko, Poland), \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Liber Natorum et Baptisatorum (Book of Births and Baptisms), 1847,\u201d p. unknown, no. 43, Jadwiga Da\u0144ko birth and baptism (1847); parish rectory, Dubiecko.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on the link for a <a href=\"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/02\/CRB-Danko-Jadwiga-1847.pdf\">PDF<\/a> copy of the Birth and Baptismal Record for Jadwiga Da\u0144ko.&nbsp; Translated from the Latin, the record states that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><div align=\"left\">Jadwiga Da\u0144ko was born and baptized on 09 September 1847<\/div><\/li><li><div align=\"left\">Her birth was the 43rd birth in Nienadowa that year and she was born in house number 158 there<\/div><\/li><li><div align=\"left\">She was a legitimately born, Roman Catholic girl<\/div><\/li><li><div align=\"left\">Her father was Pawel Da\u0144ko, farmer<\/div><\/li><li><div align=\"left\">Her mother was Zofia, the daughter of Andrzej Szyma\u0144ski<\/div><\/li><li><div align=\"left\">Her Godparents were Marcin Tanowski and Zofia, the wife of Jan Wajdowicz, farmer from Nienadowa<\/div><\/li><li><div align=\"left\">The district midwife who delivered Jadwiga was Katarzyna Kazienkowa, who signed the record with her mark (X)<\/div><\/li><li><div align=\"left\">Jadwiga was baptized by Karol Poprawski, Parish Assistant<\/div><\/li><li><div align=\"left\">A notation on the record shows that she apparently moved on 16 August 1878 [to house number?] 90<\/div><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m more convinced now that the notations I&#8217;ve seen that begin with &#8220;Extra&#8221; indicate that the individual moved to a new house.&nbsp; In Jadwiga&#8217;s case, she was born in 1847 in house number 158.&nbsp; In 1878, when she would have been 31 years old, she apparently moved to house number 90.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While not a common notation among the Dubiecko Parish Baptismal Records I&#8217;ve seen, the Baptismal Records of several of Jakub Da\u0144ko&#8217;s&nbsp;brothers and sisters&nbsp;show this type of notation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Agnieszka &#8211; Extra 28 May 1881 No. 50<\/li><li>Daughter Jadwiga &#8211; Extra 16 Aug 1878 No. 90<\/li><li>Jakub &#8211; Extra 14 Aug 1878 No. 84<\/li><li>Katarzyna &#8211; no notation<\/li><li>Marianna &#8211; no notation<\/li><li>Pawel &#8211; no notation<\/li><li>Szymon &#8211; Extra 14 Aug 1878 No. 88<\/li><li>Tomasz &#8211; no notation<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Notice that three of the notations were made in August 1878 and one was made in May 1881 .\u00a0 This suggests to me that some event occurred in 1878 that forced the family members to move .\u00a0 At this point, I don&#8217;t know what that event would have been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">Copyright \u00a9 2007-2019 by Stephen J.
