{"id":10158,"date":"2010-11-04T23:30:27","date_gmt":"2010-11-05T06:30:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/index.php\/archives\/10158"},"modified":"2010-11-04T23:30:27","modified_gmt":"2010-11-05T06:30:27","slug":"10158","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stephendanko.com\/blog\/10158","title":{"rendered":"Landmarks in Bras\u00ed\u00adlia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Among the many sights in Bras\u00ed\u00adlia are the Avenue of the States with the flags of all the states of Brazil and the Federal District .\u00a0Because of the fluttering of the flags in the wind and movement of the camera during a long night exposure, my photo of the flags\u00c2\u00a0turned out to be something of a surrealistic, though beautiful, interpretation of the Avenue of the Flags .\u00a0Not far from the Avenue of the Flags is the Pal\u00ed\u00a1cio do Congresso Nacional (the Brazilian National Congress Building) .\u00a0 In the photo, one can see the Towers of the National Congress, with the Federal Senate of Brazil housed in the semisphere to the left of the towers\u00c2\u00a0and the Chamber of the Deputies of Brazil housed in the hemisphere to the right of the towers .\u00a0The Federal Senate represents the states of Brazil, with 3 representatives from each state plus the Federal District. The Chamber of the Deputies of Brazil represents the people, with the number of representatives proportional to the population .\u00a0 A short way from the Pal\u00ed\u00a1cio do Congresso Nacional is the Pal\u00ed\u00a1cio do Itamaraty (the Foreign Ministry Building), surrounded by an aquatic garden and\u00c2\u00a0beautifully lit at night.
