Elisabetha Catharina née Taub, wife of Andreas Lather, baker of this place, died on the 1st of August between the hours of 11 and 12 o’clock, age 41 years. She was buried on the 3rd of August.

Elisabetha Catharina’s surname is spelled as Taub in some records such as this one, but at Daub in other records. I have used the spelling Daub in my own database.

The banns of marriage were proclaimed on 22 Oct 1730 and they were married on 28 Nov 1730 in the Evangelical Church in Kirtorf, Alsfeld Kreis, Hesse-Darmstadt (now Germany).

On the morning of the 11th of May [1732], on Cantate Sunday [the fourth Sunday after Easter], between 9 and 10 o’clock, Maria Catharina, legitimate little daughter of Andreas Lather, citizen and baker here, and Elisabetha Catharina née Daub, and on the following night between 12 and 1 o’clock, [on account of poor health?], was baptized in the house out of necessity. Anna Catharina, the child’s grandmother and the surviving widow of the late Friedrich Daub, was the sponsor.

I could not read one phrase in the document, but I believe it says “on account of poor health” or something similar. The child was baptized at home “out of necessity”, probably because the family was worried that the child might not survive. In fact, the child died a year later; the fact of her death is indicated by a cross in the margin of the record.

A son was born to Andreas Lather, citizen and baker here and his wife Elisabetha Catharina née Taub on Tuesday the 8th of December [1739] between 1 and 2 o’clock in the morning and on the 9th of the same month was baptized here and given the name Johann Conrad: in the presence of Conrad Riem, [stocking merchant here?].

In different documents, the child’s given name is spelled Conrad or Konrad and the mother’s maiden name is spelled Taub or Daub.
