The Birth and Baptism of Tomasz Andrzej Borski – 1803

On about 30 Nov 1803, Tomasz Andrzej Borski, the son of Baltazar Borski and Katarzyna Napierkowska, was born in Borze-Marczysze, ziemia ciechanowska, województwo mazowieckie, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. He was baptized in the parish church in Gzy, ziemia ciechanowska, województwo mazowieckie, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth on 30 Nov 1803. Tomasz Andrzej appears to have been my first cousin, five times removed.

Borze-Marczysze

Year of the Lord 1803 .  On the 30th day of November I, Walenty Dębicki, Prefect of the church of Gzy, baptized an infant with two names Tomasz Andrzej, son of the nobles Baltazar Borski and Katarzyna née Napierkowska, legally married. The Godparents in the Sacred Font were the nobles Piotr Borski called Elias and Teresa Bienkowska
from the village of Borze-Strumiany.

The image above is a digital photograph of the actual baptismal record for Maciej Borski in the Book of Baptisms for the parish of Gzy 1781-1808. This image also appears on FHL INTL microfilm 1,496,799, Item 2.

This record mentions clearly that the child was given “bini Nnis” or “two names”. Of the Polish birth and baptismal records I have seen, most show that the child was given only one name. When the child was given two names, the priest sometimes mentioned that fact directly, as in this record.
