Józef Gołaś, son of Franciszek Gołaś and Franciszka Grędziszewska, was born on 30 December 1860 in Borkowo, Kolno Powiat, Łomża Gubernia, Congress Kingdom of Poland. He was baptized on 27 December 1860 in the parish church in Mały Płock, Kolno Powiat, Łomża Gubernia, Congress Kingdom of Poland.

This happened in the village of Mały Płock on the thirtieth day of December in the year one-thousand eight-hundred sixty at the hour of one in the afternoon. There appeared Franciszek Gołaś, a peasant farmer residing in Borkowo, forty years of age, in the presence of Jan Paliwoda, forty-seven years of age, together with Ignacy Cudnik, forty years of age, peasant farmers residing in Borkowo, and he showed Us a child of the male sex born in Borkowo on the twenty-seventh day of this same month and year at the hour of six in the morning of himself and his wife Franciszka née Grędziszewska, thirty-eight years of age. To this child at Holy Baptism performed on this day by the Reverend Lutostański was given the name Józef, and his Godparents were the afore-mentioned Jan Paliwoda and Rozalia Cudnik. This document was read aloud to the illiterate declarant and witnesses and was signed by Us.
